The Boy

Young Jacob’s embodiment of masculinity is fragile in his own eyes, but maybe more convincing in the gaze of the viewer? 'The Boy' uses notions of boyhood to explore gendered identity. Each image becomes a fantasy world where colour, gestures and gazes are used to form a narrative of a becoming. The series is shot with a large format camera near Jacob’s home in English Suburbia and in London 2008-2010.
