Portraits of Her
Portraits of Her is a comment on femininity. Drawing on the historical role of the photograph as a method of classification in physiognomy, the series is a suggestion of a parallel between the portrait in early photography and the contemporary photographic portrait. Stylistically reminiscent of the use of typology as aesthetic, these diptychs comment on the classification of the woman in the image. Portraits of Her encourages a reading of femininity as a fictitious category, suggesting diversity to the very order of femininity.
